Memories of Evelyn Miller

This blog is dedicated to the memory of our granddaughter, Evelyn Celeste Miller. Evey went missing July 1st and her body was recovered July 6th from the Cedar River near Floyd, Iowa. This venue will help celebrate the wonder that she was and also post up-to-date information on the wait for justice. If you have any information about the crime please contact the Floyd County Sheriff's Office at 1-641-228-1821 or e-mail me directly.

In Case You Missed It

Gene Meyer is retiring as head of the Iowa DCI. In a copyright article in the Des Moines Register, Mr. Meyer made these comments.

"There are always certain cases you're involved in where you feel rather certain you know who's responsible but you just didn't have enough evidence to charge somebody."

One of those is the abduction and murder of Evelyn Miller, a 5-year-old Charles City girl found dead last summer.

"I'm nowhere near to the point of saying we're not going to solve that case," Meyer said. "But whether or not it's resolved before I retire, I don't know."

We wish Gene the best in his new career and thank him and the DCI for their continuing diligent efforts in helping to solve Evey's case. They are always in our prayers for justice.

Gene's comments along with those of Marilyn Dettmer would lead us to believe that the person who did this is not one of those already mentioned in the media. Hopefully, time and more investigation will tell.

Comments are open for those who wish to post one.

Just too sad! Something has to give here! I have been religiously following this case since I stumbled onto it in an unrelated google search early last September. Every morning I check in with high expectations the pig or pigs who did this to your granddaughter will be caught. I have often wanted to send you and your wife a note telling you how deeply sorry I am for your loss but just couldn’t ever find the words that would get the job done. Wouldn’t it be nice if before he retired Mr. Meyer could “slip” the name of the person he feels certain is responsible???

My heart goes out to you, your wife and your son. May God be with you.

Hi Richard,

I can't believe it has been almost a year and still no one is arrested.

I have been following the Ricky Holland case very closely over the past year and I have started a forum to get some changes made regarding CPS in Michigan. My group Rallies for Ricky is sponsoring a candlelight vigil for him. It is going to be held the same night and about the same time as Evey's. Two little angels lost the same weekend. I hope you are doing well. Take care.

Trisha
